Past Rotary International President Cliff Dochterman was a keynote speaker at the RI Presidental Celebration held in Vancouver, BC, CA on July 18 & 19, 2003.  This celebration's focus was Vocational Service and was billed as an opportunity to:

  • Exchange ideas on Rotary's second Avenue of Service
  • Share experiences with Vocational Service projects
  • Learn unique ways to promote The Four-Way Test
  • Explore opportunities to volunteer vocational skills

PRIP Cliff Dochterman is one of Rotary's best-known and most accomplished speakers.  His presidential theme (1992-1993) was "Real Happiness is Helping Others."  When listing places that Rotarians can find happiness in The Rotarian August 1992, the first item is "by helping others through their business, profession, or vocation."  His address is a useful reminder of that ethics and service are deeply rooted in our organization.  The text of his speech was taking from an archived report of the celebration.  You can download a copy of the full report on the Internet Archive.
