Rotary eClub of the Southwest USA
It is our privilege to have you join us today as we offer the hospitality of our online Rotary club, one of only five Rotary eClubs in the USA and 13 eClubs throughout the Rotary world. We are chartered under the auspices of Rotary District 5510 in Arizona, USA but provide a potential for Rotary membership to any eligible person in the world. We also provide an alternative Rotary meeting make-up opportunity for Rotary members the world over.
The eClub concept was authorized by the visionary board members of Rotary International to evaluate an alternative Rotary membership paradigm. The evaluation continues until the 2010 Council on Legislation. We have summarized our vision of this in the following profile that describes our target membership.
- Eligible prospective members worldwide with no previous membership in Rotary, who wish opportunities to be involved in local, regional, international, and global service projects, and who would more effectively serve through an online meeting format than with that of the standard Rotary club.
- Eligible prospective members, who were formerly, but are not currently, members of a Rotary club.
- Young eligible prospective members who are under the age of 35 who cannot fit the standard Rotary meeting format into their schedule or justify the financial commitment.
- Current Rotarians who are unable to sustain standard Rotary club membership due to extensive business commitments, health issues, geographical isolation, or a mobile lifestyle, but desire to continue their service commitment through Rotary.

Bill Gates Donates Additional US$225 million to Polio Plus!
We just received this quick note from our DG-Elect Ken Oakes who was attending the DG training this past weekend.
"Hello everyone. I hope you have had a great week. I wanted to let you know that this week at the governor training we had Bill Gates come as speak. It was quite exciting as he got a long standing ovation. Bill Gates announced that
he is making and additional contribution to the Polio Plus fund. He is putting and ADDITIONAL $255 MILLION of which $100 MILLION is to be matched by Rotarians by year 2012.
"Rotary anounnced also that Germany and the UK have committed $280 MILLION to Polio as well. So, we now have an additional match of $100 Million for a combined $200 Million. The good news is that we have raised $72 Million toward the first $100. This is great news and it's a great time to be a Rotarian!!!
