This presentation was very informative. I liked the discussion of how to use electronic means and resources to recruit, retain, and orient new members, especially younger Rotarians. I am going to copy and e-mail this program to our current and incoming club presidents; they should appreciate its tools and tips as well.
One suggestion: Why not have our local clubs set up their own Web sites, videotape their weekly terra meetings, post the videos on their Web sites, and let their members make up on-line internally by viewing the presentations? We would then have sort of e-clubs within terra clubs for specific or limited purposes. I travel extensively and am not regularly at terra meetings. I make up on-line, mainly through this e-club. Being able to attend my terra club and make up on or through its own Web site would be very helpful, and it would let me maintain contact (albeit one-way) with my friends and fellow Rotarians in the Marshfield club.
excellent Ireally enjoy Cliff Dochterman speeches first heard Cliff at the RI Conference Melbourne 1993 also at RI Conference Singpore ,He is a wonderful Rotarian

Assume story..I might have to buy some marbles today...
A lot here for our members to review. Even though we are facing a final decision in 2010 on the future of the eClub concept, we need to support Larry in planning out our long term goals.

We have since crossed path's several times and always enjoy his talks and humor.

The 1000 marbles story was, of course, thought-provoking.
As for the program, it was interesting to note how much techonology was referenced. Rotary certainly has come a long way since its founding.
Larry's coverage of the membership conference was great! He stressed several key elements that include harnessing technology for comunication, developing programs for younger members, and for making Rotary relevant in the coming years!

I enjoyed the information about various ways to increase membership. I especially liked the idea of the President's Development Committee. I also plan to look into the text back number - interesting.
Looks like people are able to play audio without problems. This was our first attempt at using this medium (as far as I can remember). More to come! :)

An extremely encouraging message and very inspirational..., encourages us to committ to expanding the work of Rotary by bringing in new members into the fold.
I have heard Cliff Dochterman's one-liners many times -- but I always chuckle anyway. He is one of Rotary's best speakers, I think.

Good to hear the audio recording! Mine sound like it ended early, but there was still plenty of good stuff. I also liked the idea of an online chat, and hope to take part.
New members is the life blood of any organization and everyone's responsibility.
The membership conference was fantastic! I wish all of our members had the pleasure of attending.

I really enjoyed the "marble story." Thank you.
Good information on membership development.
Cliff is hilarious. I have heard him speak in person.
NEVER miss a chance to hear Cliff Dochterman speak! He's been my Rotary hero for over 20 years.
Now, I need to find 1,716 marbles! Thank you for this meeting and the report from the conference. Very interesting!

Interesting comments regarding the need to have vision of where your club will be in 5 years. Also the need to make use of new technology (blogs/facebook etc) to reach out to younger demographics.

The story about the marbles was something to really think about-I will be getting some marbles today!
Great ideas from a great Rotarian. I strongly agree with the idea of having a special emphasis on the ceremony for taking in a new member. It is a big day for the club and the individual.
Cliff' always does a great presentation. I've also heard the recommendation to profile each generation ( ie. BabyBoom, Gen-X, Gen Y) to understand what would attract them to Rotary and then use that information to update the club and outreach.
to my club secretary - may want to download this presentation. Valuable insights, especially on attracting younger members
Thank you very much for this presentation and providing the opportunity to hear PP Cliff's speech. I've read some of his past speeches but haven't heard him speak until now. I really enjoyed his insights and sense of humor.

Truly,I agree that recruiting young ones to become Rotarians is commendable. We have in our club young Rotarians and they are very active and supportive in our club activities.
I took the liberty to send your document to our secretary. Is that alright? I think she might find useful pointers in it.
Good work Larry! I look forward to hearing more.
Cliff Dochterman is wonderful. Met him at PETS a few years ago.
I truly enjoyed this program
I love Cliff's updated presentation on membership & hearing him again this time in our on line meeting. Another first for our eClub! At our first DC he came into our hospitality suite, sat down to our demo computer allowing us to show him how to make up. He offered to do a program for us at any time. We should take him up on that.
I am glad Larry came away from this conference with great ideas from the presentations, but from networking with attendees. My experience has always been beneficial from sharing ideas with my peers...:0)
Thanks for a great meeting Larry with creative, visionary, thoughts & tools for our club. Judy
Some great goals to work towards.
I also attended this membership conference--found it very interesting and informative.
Please give attendance credit for this event.
Thank you.
