Program: The New Rotary Year
Speaker: President Larry
This year's theme is "The Future of Rotary is in Your Hands". Nowhere is this more true than in our eClub, with the council on Legislation coming up this year.
As you can see with our induction of Tim West this week, we will be trying new things this year. Experimenting with new tools and new processes that expand our ability to grow and manage our eClub effectively, to serve more people on more places around the globe, and to bring our Club together in new ways for Fellowship.
One of our first experiments is a new way of doing board meetings. We have a 60-to-90-minute Skype call the first Friday of every month, followed by almost three days of discussion in the Board Forum, ending at midnight Arizona time on Sunday night. We are hoping that our compressed meeting time will engage all the board members on a regular basis.
As PP Judy Taunt said during the Installation, this is a special year in the growth of our eClub. It is a time of invention, or creating new ideas, of tremendous growth, of expanded opportunities for service, and new ways of fellowship. It's really up to each of us to participate fully in this new time for the eClub.
Program Materials:
I really want to say just two words about this year: Service & Fellowship. You'll learn more when you watch the following brief comments from some of our Board members.
View the video of Larry's remarks (President).
View the video of Carol's remarks (Secretary).
View the video of Rushton's remarks (Communications & Internet).

Perhaps we should indeed "look beyond our own parish pump" and continue to focus on global issues.
I could not view the videos - the link was broken? Help, what do I do when that happens?
This is my first eclub make up. It is great. Seems a marvelous tool for seeing how other clubs function. Also I need the answer to the quiz. That is fun
Great meeting!
I like the idea of video / audio, etc.
Now all we need is for Pres. Larry to tidy up his office :-)

The video format is a great way to show us what the members look and sound like. Great job!
Larry, Carol, and Rushton,
I absolutely love this visual format. It really makes a huge difference.
I even asked my husband to attend the meeting with me.
Thank you.
Nice format
Eat the cookie yourself then the kids each get an exact equal amount - zero
I like the fact that the meeting is conducted using proper protocol and proecedure, despite the fact it is on line.
loved the videos!..way to go Larry..you're off to a great start!
Wow, I really enjoyed the video(s)! It brings a whole new dimension to the online meetings. Terrific idea.

I thought it was neat that your club is partnering with the Rotary club of Rajkot, India to build parts for the kids! I also enjoyed your president's speech - the importance of getting involved and also the use of Skype for future meetings.

This was a very interesting meeting as I actually got to see some of the people involved with the eClub. I was also interested in the idea of the eClub members being encouraged to go to the 'terra club meetings' as well.
i had difficulty viewing the video
Very interesting use of technology.
Answer to Cookie question: Have one child cut and the other choose.
Great first meeting. I enjoyed the videos of the program, but Tim's introduction/induction was particularly appreciated. Given that we seldom get to meet in person, putting a face with a name and learnign a little in that persons own words is priceless.

The first video kept repeating.
Hi, i dont have a paypal account, and dont really want to pay that way. can i send you a check?
Good ideas. As for the cookie - one child cuts it in half and the other child gets first choice of the half he wants.
Looks like a great start to a new year!

I'm a Canadian Rotarian and have now done 3 makeups at your club. My wife and I recently purchased a winter home in Arizona so I've taken an interest in getting to know more about the southwest. Your club has provided me with a good education of the southwest as well as the use of technology to accomplish what most clubs accomplish at a weekly F2F meeting. I'll continue to 'stop by' for future make-ups.
Larry, excellent format!!!...
Enjoyed the remarks - nice start, Larry!
Welcome, Tim! I hope you will find this club as interesting and energizing as I have, and that it will give you many opportunities to better understand the many ways we can help our communities, near and far, small and large.
As for the cookie, I'd imagine one would need to buy a second. 8^)
The goals of 100% attendance and attendance at as many terra clubs as possible are laudable. I think that I had perfect attendance, with the help of online makeups through this site, last year. Keeping track of volunteer hours and how many terra clubs have been attended are also worthwhile. I was impressed that 30 members put in 14,000 volunteer hours in a certain year, an average of 10 hours per member per week.
I have attended several e-club makeups in the past and yours is the first club that attempts a traditional meeting format within the internet. I think it adds personality to your club.
Very good! Even twice! Hope Richard didn't have a nasty Ratter sitting next to him!
Good job on the videos! Now let's all commit to perfect attendance this year! I've had perfect attendance for the almost 21 years I've been in Rotary and most of it was in terra clubs. It's now very easy with eClub.
This meeting was very different from previous ones in that we were actually able to "see" the presenters. It was especially nice to "meet" Carol's family. Larry's and Rushton's remarks were right on target. And as far as sharing the cookie goes, the following is what my mom did with me and my brother, and how I handled it with my own children. You let one child cut the cookie and the other one gets to choose which half. It keeps the cutter very honest!

Cookie, use a measuring tape and be sure to use a knife.
The eClub is off to a fine start. I enjoyed seeing the videos. That makes eClubbing real, though it's always been real for me.
Like the video set up for a change.
Could't get Larry to work, (well, his report, anyhow) but Rushton's was worthy of an Emmy or something.
Can see the video. I prefer the written comments.
Really enjoyed the induction of Tim West. The use of just a picture with the voice over creates an immediate connection with the new member. You feel that you know who this person is and why they are joining this extension of the Rotary experience called an eClub. Also the program created a more intimate contact with our Executive Board members. It works and shows what all of us in the eClub must begin to learn for communication. It is like visual letter writing from the 17th and 18th century (the new technology then). Also the information given connects with a vision that stays in the mind's eye. It showed what an eClub is and suggests where it might go in the years to come. Excellent program.
Congratulations Larry on becoming President of our wonderful E club.It was great to be at the change over evening by means of skype, even though we only caught parts,it was good to speak to some of the members.
Larry you have been wonderful help as my Mentor,
you will do a great job as President
