What a surprise! Once again I thought that, although I could not make the trip to help celebrate Judi Woods becoming a Paul Harris Fellow, Larry and others included me (and all of you) in this presentation and emotional celebration of all the work the Judi has done for our eClub over the six years as we have found out what this new 'creation' is and can be. "I am there!" And if I want to replay it after breakfast, I can be there again.
With 64 members, and growing each day, on six continents, we have tried to be in the living rooms of each member at each meeting that we have, but I felt it more today than in the past. I was at the District Conference in Arizona when I tumbled out of bed in a suburb of Houston and others went to sleep in India and still others were at work in Japan. But we all can attend this gathering whenever we have the time, and in the 21st century. "When we have the time" may be the rallying call that the future of Rotary has learned. I, again, learned it today. Thank you all for this program. Oh, and you can mark me present and attentive.
As I think about accepting the gavel from Larry on July 1, I know what I do not know therefore I will need the help of everyone inside and outside our eClub to keep the level of excellence that I have witnessed over these six years. Who said that playing chess in six continents, in different time zones, within different cultures would be easy? Not me, but it may be fun. It has been to this point. But helping to run an eClub is a family matter. We need the help of all members, no matter where they live. It is a journey into an 'undiscovered country' and, hopefully, a 'dance in the rain.'
Congratulations, Judi Woods, and a large "Thank you!"
