Operation Warm

Speaker: Carol Anderson
Date: Dec 06, 2010

The concept community is sometimes obscure in the realm of cyberspace. We
share our cyberspace community with our terra lives. Where do we do community
service? Here, there and everywhere. In your terra community you can participate
with other Rotary Clubs, with non-profits, religious organizations, or simply by
yourself, and in the name of Rotary.

Rotarian's Response to Hunger

Speaker: Rick Barrett
Date: Nov 29, 2010

Rotarians in the US, together with their friends and families, celebrated Thanksgiving on Thursday, 25 November.  On this annual holiday, we shared the company of loved ones and remembered all that we have to be grateful for.  Many of us also took time to remember those less fortunate, possibly through donating to a local food pantry or volunteering to serve Thanksgiving at a local homeless shelter.

Unfortunately, hunger is a year-round problem that does not take a holiday break.  And where there is a problem, Rotarians respond.  In this week's program, we feature just a few examples of how Rotarians are providing hunger relief in their local and international communities.

A New Rotary Club for Podunk Pines

Speaker: Ms Truly, Bubba and Joe
Date: Nov 22, 2010

A New Rotary Club for Podunk Pines

Beginning Plans: recorded in an editorial by Miss Truly Candid and an ad hoc committee of

Bubba Jay III and Joe Kagle.

In this joint essay, an editorial by Miss Truly Candid in the Podunk Pines newspaper and

a description of a conversation between the international (but local) artist, Bubba Jay III

and our President, Joe Kagle. Because, if you have not heard, Miss Truly fell and hurt

her leg and back, just after she finished writing her editorial about the project in Podunk

Pines by the town leaders, attempting to create a weekly Rotary Club. Bubba Jay, on

hearing this, called Joe Kagle and asked him to come up to Calamity, Texas to discuss

how their two minds could help Miss Truly and the Podunk Pine leaders.

It is surprising (when two friends get together to discuss how to help another friend

in pain) what can be done (especially since Joe has written ‘vision statements’ abroad

through the US State Department for local communities, like Ulaanbaatur, Mongolia.

As you all know, he is the President this year of the Rotary eClub of the Southwest,

USA, What Bubba and Joe came up with eventually will be forwarded to Norma Taylor-

Rodriques, a member of the eClub, who is a dear friend of Miss Truly Candid and will be

visiting with her soon.

Any comments that you all out there can make to Miss Truly, we are sure that it would

help her recover from her fall and be warmly appreciated. As they say in Podunk

Pines, “rainbows are colored by kind words.”

Interview with Donna McDonald

Speaker: Donna McDonald
Date: Nov 15, 2010

At the core of Rotary’s programs and Foundation projects are strong clubs that are engaged in
their local and international communities. In the words of RI President Ray Klinginsmith,
“Rotary lives and breathes in our 33,000 clubs, and it is the clubs that improve lives by Building
Communities – Bridging Continents. If we succeed in helping clubs to become Bigger, Better,
and Bolder in the next year, then it will be clear that the best days of Rotary are still ahead.”
