Rotary Videos from YouTube
Speaker: various
Date: Mar 23, 2009
Our normal program coordinator, Stephen Shearin, has been called away to care for his brother who is in the Intensive Care Unit in a hospital in Hawaii (currently his brother is stable), and Stephen has not been able to help complete uploading the program contents this week - many of our board members send their parts to Stephen to assemble for your viewing pleasure. I have stepped in to put some content online for the week and will be asking our Board to fill in the blanks over the next few days with regards to the President's Corner, Birthday's and Announcements, Sergeant at Arms, and the Rotary Minute.
In the mean time, please visit the four links below, and spend 30 to 60 minutes pondering (Google surfing is a great help there) how they can motivate you to be better Rotary members and how the videos can better your own life.
When you are done, please add a few comments regarding your thoughts of the program links.
We apologize for an abbreviated meeting, but as they say "life happens".
As always, our club is best able to carry out our Service Projects when you, our visitors, graciously donate to the club. Please consider the value of our presentation and consider donating what you would have spent on a meal at your normal club by donating via our Paypal link or sending a check to our postal address. Thank you in advance for your donations!

The Future or Bees
Speaker: Lorraine Dusky interviewing Rowan Jacobsen
Date: Mar 16, 2009
Recently there has been much talk about the peril that bees face and how it could have a major effect on us. Many people see bees as a nuisance, not as a key component to our daily lives. There may not be too much that we can do from day to day to help with this plight, but it all starts with awareness. Hopefully you will be inspired to search the Internet for a little more information and the next time you can swat a bee you let it get back to its business instead.
As always, donations from club members and guests are appreciated. Also, feel free to visit the forum and start a discussion about bees, Rotary, busy Rotary bees, or just about anything else you wish to.

The 88-Temple Pilgrimage on Shikoku Island, Japan
Speaker: Ryofu Pussel
Date: Mar 09, 2009
Our Immediate Past President Ryofu Pussel talks about the 88-temple Pilgrimage on Shikoku Island, Japan. It is the oldest and longest pilgrimage in Japan, covering 1,400 km around the remote island in southern Japan. He has completed it four times, and first shares his experiences, and then gives an overall explanation and critical analysis in this week’s speech.

Rotary West African Peace Caravan
Speaker: Richelieu Allison
Date: Mar 02, 2009
The West African Youth Network (WAYN) has been actively working over the last few years to enhance the participation of young people in issues relating to peace building, conflict resolution, governance, accountability, youth development and human rights in West Africa. It was set up in March 2001.
The creation of the organization was in direct response to the rise in violent activities and the continuous marginalization and exploitation of young people in West Africa. It grew from the felt need to effectively mobilize the mass participation of young people to get off their fence and work constructively for the building of a culture of peace, human rights, governance and transparency in West Africa
Since its inception in 2001, WAYN has continued to initiate and implement a number of projects in line with its Mission Statement. From a modest beginning in March 2001, the organization has grown over the years and has captivated the attention of governments, regional organizations, civil society groups, the media and the donor community. It has extended its membership from five to thirteen countries and has implemented a number of programmes in line with its objectives.
