Visit from District Governor Glenn Smith

Speaker: None other than Glenn Smith himself!
Date: Jul 26, 2010

In the course of a Rotary year, every club is hopefully visited by its District Governor. In some districts, this presents a bit of a challenge. Hours and miles, miles and hours, the entire year is spent running hither and yon to see all the clubs.

For Glenn Smith, he had to go the extra nano-mile - into cyberspace - for our club. And he did so with vigor and aplomb. He joined us for a Board meeting, and is good enough to join us again as the guest speaker this week. So without further ado ( or doo doo - for  those that are still reading), I'm proud to present DG Glenn Smith.

The Winds of Change

Speaker: Mel and Judy Taunt
Date: Jul 19, 2010

As a quick speaker intro, 2xPDG, PP (and so much more) Mel and 2xWPDG, inaugural eClub President (and so much more) Judy Taunt have been married for over 50 years and generally kicking butt (in the best possible way) all of that time. Their accomplishments are too great to list here, and if I know them, and I think I do, they'd say that this is not the time or the place for that, just that they are glad to offer this week's program and that they hope you find reading it at least somewhat enjoyable.

(end:editors intro)

Beginnings - Where it all began (Rotary eClub Southwest USA that is) … Year ONE

In the beginning …… there was chaos, a few ideas, and fewer people … then more chaos, more ideas, and a few more people … then less chaos, and we were suddenly a charted eClub. WOW!

Its been an amazing ride and too much to try to share in one meeting, so we will break our eClub history into manageable “bites” over this year. The story pretty much speaks for itself so without further ado, we invite you to our “Beginnings.”

Many Voices, One Song

Speaker: Various
Date: Jul 12, 2010

Ultimately, what is the main resource of a Rotary eClub? We believe that it is the quality, talents, skills, and passion of our members. Many of our members , young and more seasoned Rotarians, have lived the adages: “Life is not how you learn to survive the storm; it is how you dance in the rain” and “It is not that you have everything but that you use everything that you have!”

We have asked some members, as we start a new journey into an undiscovered country of being a full-fledged partner in the Rotary world, to write about why they joined the eClub, how the eClub has fulfilled their expectations, and what they envision the eClub to be for them and Rotary International in the future. This is a town gathering of friends, telling stories answering emails for requests, and speculating on their and the eClub’s future in a local/global experience. Learn about who we are from selected members (some particularly selected and some asked at random). The Rotary eClub of the Southwest, USA is growing every moment (in 2009-2010, we grew from 44 to 71 members to date) and new members come in just when we turn our backs. From the stories of our fellow members, we can all learn what is behind the mask that the Internet sometimes wears.

Searching for a Flashlight in a Dim Mist

Speaker: Joseph Kagle
Date: Jul 05, 2010

This week's program, the first of our new Rotary year comes to us from this year's president, Joe Kagle. In it he draws upon his storied life to lay out a road map not just for his undertaking of a commitment, but for anyone who is starting or considering a new path. Along the way we get a great introduction to the guy who will be sitting where the bucks stop this year.

If you don't know Joe already this program will give you some great insight. It is illustrated by the author himself.

Without further ado, read on !
