75,000 Acres

Speaker: Charles Townsing
Date: Aug 31, 2009

Today we hear from one of our own, Charles Townsing. Charles has been a member of Rotary for almost twenty years, and joined pour eClub last year due to the difficulty of getting to the nearest traditional Rotary Club, which is apparently a 200-mile round trip! Charles and his wife Fay spent several decades running a bakery, then made the switch to the Australian Outback, where they quickly learned about fencing, solar energy, and water issues. Fortunately for us, he's willing to share that learning so we don't have to spend the years learning it firsthand! Please be patient with the file; it's rather large.

Project Amigo

Speaker: Susan Hill and Ted Rose
Date: Aug 10, 2009

In the early 1980's, Ted Rose and Susan Hill sold their house, their business, and one of their cars, and moved to a small town in rural Mexico to help poor children there get a better education. What they and their friends in Colima and around the world have built has given better futures to thousands of children. Today you will learn about their organization, Project Amigo, and how Rotarians are making wonderful things happen for some of those most in need.
