Koh-do: A Nice Smell, Peace and Rotary's SERVICE ABOVE SELF

Speaker: Ryofu Pussel, President-Nominee RECSWUSA
Date: Mar 13, 2006

The title of this week's speech is "Koh-do: A Nice Smell, Peace and Rotary's SERVICE ABOVE SELF". Koh-do literally means "the Way of Fragrance" and is the Japanese art of appreciating incense, involving the use of incense in a formalized structure and conduct, and is one of the classical Japanese arts of self-refinement. This speech looks at the connection of Koh-do, peace and Rotary's Service Above Self. I am practicing Koh-do, and would like to share my thoughts with you. Regarding hobbies and other interests, please do feel free to share these with us, and this applies to every member of our club! How about e-mailing the president a description of your hobby or other interesting experiences, trips, and so forth... I am sure that we all would love to share these with you! (It would of course help if they are somewhat related to Rotary and its ideals).

President-elect urges Rotarians to Lead the Way

Speaker: RI
Date: Mar 06, 2006

Let Rotarians Lead the Way - this also applies to our club. Let us ALL share our responsibility to have this club up and running, let us ALL share our ideas, let us ALL remind ourselves of our COMMITMENT that we have pleadged not only to RI, but also to our own RECSWUSA e-Club. This is a wonderful club, and we should ALL be proud and happy to be part of this exciting new step into RI's future. Let Rotarians Lead the Way, and let each of us Lead one step upon the other, so that we can climb to new heights. Although it is a small RI article, I hope that it inspires us, and lets us examine ourselves for a moment: what is is that I personally, no mater how small, no matter how simple, can contribute to our club and to RI? Many drops of water make the ocean full, and many small ideas, small actions, sum up to something huge. This is how Rotary was build, but the idea of a single man, Paul Harris, who formed tye first club on 23 February 1905 to a worldwide network of 1.2 million Rotarians belonging to some 31,000 Rotary clubs in 166 countries! Let Rotarian Lead the Way!

Rotary World

Speaker: Published by Rotary International
Date: Feb 27, 2006

The January edition of Rotary World highlights the difference Rotarians are making in India, Iraq, the United States, Bulgaria, Indonesia and around the world. Thanks to RI for putting this publication together so we can see the difference Rotary and Rotarians are making around the world. This program is a little fatter than our usual programs, so if you have a slower connection, you may want to get a cup of coffee about now.

Speaker: Howard Langeveld, Rotary eClub of the Southwest, U
Date: Feb 13, 2006

Here is a report from our very own Howard Langeveld, who recently went to Ecuador and visited the indigenous Cofan tribe. Our club made a very small donation to purchase toothbrushes for distribution - we have received this very large contribution in return from Howard.
