eClub works for me because...
I would have a very difficult time making a weekly land-based meeting, and would rather put my meager funds directly toward Rotary projects than towards the cost of meals, as most land-based clubs do.

About Me

Some least favorite things?
Liver and other organ meats, bad grammar, unjustified arrogance

What are your favorite things, in personal and work life?
Cats, rocks, and chocolate

Is there a quotation that gets you through the day, or is very meaningful to you?
Maya Angelou: "My breasts are in a race to see which reaches my waist first." This reminds me not to take myself too seriously, and to accept gracefully whatever life throws my way.

What type of vehicle do you drive, or doperfer another mode of transportation?
Only in America would we ask that question... I drive a 1997 Buick LeSabre, a granny car, even though I'm not yet a granny, just old enough to be one

What type of pets do you prefer?
2 cats, both rescues

My special skills and talents are...
Bookkeeping, sewing (made custom clothing professionally for 12 years), picture framing, cooking

Education and Occupation

College degree

Do you have a specialty degree?
No

Where did you attend High School?
St. Mary's Episcopal School for Girls, in Memphis, TN (Don't hold it against me, my father made me)

Colorado College, a small liberal arts college nestled at the foot of Pikes Peak

I use my degree in my current occupation:
False

What is your current occupation?
I run a little bookkeeping service for about half a dozen clients.

How long have been at your current occupation?
I've owned and operated this particular business for 5 years, but I've been a bookkeeper for 30 years.

What was the least favorite job you've ever had?
Working in an orthopedic surgeon's office as the front desk clerk.

Entertainment/Interests

Rock hounding, reading, hiking, traveling, RVing, puzzles (word puzzles, logic and math puzzles, jigsaws (regular and online))

Do you play sport? List them.
Hiking

Do you watch sport? Who are your favorite teams/players?
Don't watch sports, since we don't have TV service. We only use our TV for watching movies on DVD.

Do you like to camp?
Yes

Do you prefer books or movies?
Books

Food

Do you like to cook or go out for dinner?
Cook

What is your favorite meal?
That's virtually impossible to say, since I like almost everything. I like to experiment with international cuisines, so my favorite meal is probably one I have never tried before.

Miscellaneous

What is your favorite book and why?
Another almost impossible question, but if I have to pick one, it would have to be my old, falling-apart edition of "Roget's International Thesaurus,' published in 1962. Yes, it lacks some current words and usage (such as "internet"), but it is more logically arranged and goes into much greater depth than modern thesauri.

If you could be anyone for a day, who would it be and why?
H.H. the 14th Dalai Lama He is probably the most enlightened person on this planet today. He is able to be happy and not become cynical or discouraged in the face of the suffering of so many of his people and people everywhere.

If you could meet your great-great grandparents, what would you ask them?
What was it like to live in your world? - a world where your quality of life came from your own labors, where your word was your bond, and a handshake constituted a contract, where your neighbors were your friends and you could depend on them no matter what. What was your day like? What did you love, what things gave you pleasure, and what would you have changed if you had the opportunity to?

If money were not an a concern, what profession would you choose?
I would choose not to work for money, but instead would give more of my time in volunteering.

What is your favorite movie? Why?

What might surprise people about you?
I look like a conservative matron today, but I was a real rebel in my youth - a back-to-the-land hippie who experimented with substances and behaviors that make me cringe today just thinking about the stupid risks I took.

If you could muster the courage, what would you like to do?
Go sky-diving

If you relive one day, which would it be?
My wedding day. I went through the day in a fog. I'd like to hear the mockingbird singing in the tree over our heads throughout the entire ceremony, because I surely didn't hear it that day.

If you could take only three items with you to a space colony, what would they be? (Your family is already coming with.)
My cat, Nosey; my computer (with as many books downloaded as I can fit onto the hard drive); the biggest chocolate bar I can find.

What is the best advice your parents gave you?
Don't have more than 2 kids. If you do, they will outnumber you, and eventually outwit you.

What is the best advice you have given your children?

If you could be any animal, what would it be and why?

Describe the most beautiful sight you have ever seen:

Family secret for treating a cold?

Where would you like to retire?

The world will be a better place when…
