Black eye, kiss and a hug!
Jun 29, 2007 3:19 pm

Last weekend, I babysat with my grandson, Matthew (see his picture on my Photo Gallery). We walked out to the pool where he was swimming with the help of a raft. He saw me, ran to me, jumped into the air (expecting me to catch him which I did), threw his face toward mine (intending a kiss with the hug), struck his hard head with the soft spot above my right eye, and then (after telling him to watch it next time) we kissed and hugged. It was only later that my daughter said, "How did you get the black eye?" I did not know that I had it so I walked to the mirror. Sure enough, the aspirin and Plavix had thinned my blood so that I bruise easily now and I did have a black eye (in Texas, they call it a "shiner"- not sure why). All week, indoor and out, I have worn my dark glasses (rather than explaining that it was not Anne who hit me but a four-year little ball of energy who did the damage). Glad it did not happen before I went to Salt Lake City. Only got a heel bruise there which still allows me to limp. C'est le vie!
