For Our Guests and Visitng Rotarians -
Sending you a very warm welcome!!
As promised - here's a forum about Marketing and PR efforts that were presented as the program this week. Since so many of you come from different clubs throughout the world or are completely new to Rotary, this is our chance to share and cross-pollinate ideas. What ideas in the program sparked your interest? What has your terra club done to share the message of Rotary that has really been successful for you? We're looking forward to hearing from you - and hope that the information shared will be beneficial to you.
Yours in Service Without Borders,
Dar

I hadn't thought about it before, but you and Ryofu "inspired" me so I spent a large chunk of Sunday afternoon with all the business cards of people I had met and talked with at the RI Convention. I sent each a personal email, inviting them to come and visit our web site, and included a link so all they had to do was click.
During the next month I will make it a point to visit each of the Rotary groups in my area, armed with brochures. I have found that when you are introduced as a member of an Eclub, people come up to you after the meeting to ask questions - sometimes you get to talk about the club a little bit at the meeting, which is even better.

Some Rotary clubs are advertising what they do by posting videos on places like YouTube. Here is one example -

Dar's program this week also got me to thinking about individuals who join eClubs and who do not (as one of the visitors mentioned in their comments about preferring "terra" clubs because he could get together with other people in their "30s"). I do feel that what Dar presented was very professional and helpful. It is good information that is needed by those who might visit our eClub (also for those in our eClub who can use this information). What I was asking for, the person coming through the information, may be premature. It can come later. But I still feel that it must come into the light to help others who might wish to join feel that it has the same appeal that a "terra" club can offer (but through a different media). I may have asked for something that should come later. It is just that some individuals can exude "joy" in an eClub. Dar is one of those.

Dar: first off enjoyed your program.
I spent 10 days in Solvang,Ca. Arrived on the 3rd and spent the July 4th enjoying all the small town activities. The parade was sponsored by the Solvang Breakfast Rotary and the fireworks by the Santa Ynez Valley Rotary club (actually a fund raiser for them), so I found out when and where the clubs met, and we spend money in both booths.
On Tuesday a.m. went to the breakfast club, was allowed to speak for a few minutes, and hand out brochures and buttons and was overall well received. Spoke the ADG and she was very interested in us, especially for some of here friends in India. She owns a girls school outside Calcutta and as part of the curriculum the girls are being trained on/in computers. She talked to me about arranging an online meeting with the school, so i'll have to work on that.
Wednesday I went to the noon club, wasn't given the chance to speak publicly so I stood at the door and tried to catch Rotarians and guests and say hi and give them a brochure. Overall, not a lot of interest.
Interestingly enough I felt some friction between the noon club and the breakfast club, and in the a.m. club the new president as part of his opening speach mentioned better relationships between the local clubs (4-5 total within 10 miles). The noon club sponsored the a.m. club.........you know what, get over it and yourselves, it's all about Rotary, not your club.
My point is this, you are going to get different responses when visiting clubs, however this is the first somewhat negative response I got since I joined our little eClub. Most have loved the info.
