Who of you fellow RECSWUSAnians is registered with facebook? Please let the other members know by replying to this thread so that we might find us there.
I am registered and will let you know under what name, as an example for my request, so you can easily look me up.

I'm Stephen Shearin. Surprise!
I would make mention that recswusa was created to provide many of the applications of facebook. While it's fun to connect here and there on different sites, it would literally be the end of me if we started using facebook in place of a custom made site with the same functionality...
Still, reconnecting with others or using the platform as a recruitment tool could be useful, but I hope no one ever 'writes' on someone's FB wall instead of posting a comment on their profile here....
Or am I missing something completely?

Woody Hoyt, online as Woody Hoyt - I didn't even know Rotary was on facebook till I read Eric Lind's program. How did I miss that? Have just joined the FB Polio Plus site as well.

I'm curious as to why is time/energy being put in there in place of trying to jump start something here?I get it - for being connected to the other 10,000 people you are interested in, but in terms of Rotary, why ask to interface with people there when we have a site here that has 90% of the functionality and, if requested, could have the other 10%.
I ask largely because one of the primary complaints I've heard about eClub is the lack of social interaction. Isn't it ironic that when people finally decide to socially interact they do it someplace else?
I'm sure there is at least one guy donating server space/time that wouldn't be broken hearted if we just turned recswusa into a FB group and if everyone is more akin to interacting there, I say we do just that.

Stephen has a point. Why go to Facebook and ignore a forum that we have created to just communicate on many levels. I see Facebook as a secondary source for eClubbers. This should be the main area where we really exchange ideas, experiences, adventures, fun and our daily struggles. Not only does Stephen have a point but he is, I believe, right. We cannot let the romanace of a new avenue to allow us to forget the place where we started this journey of communication.
We should dance first with the girl who brought us. Most of us who write often and use the forum should make sure that our first love, this forum, is not lost when we fall in love with another pretty face.
For those of us who have signed up to use Facebook as an additional avenue for communication, let us promise ourselves not to forsake this valuable and worthwhile tool that our eClub has created for our use. No, let us promise each other that this will still be our main avenue for ideas and images that we wish to share.
I signed up for Facebook, not because I was tired of using this tool, but to expand my network and rekindle old memories with those who I knew and know. Facebook is to show a face whereas this forum is to exchange our whole selves.
