Thougth we could talk about some eClub projects here.

You know, most of what we've done, from Turks to Dictionaries to dictionaries in the Turks to RYLA sponsorship and so on, are really just terra items that we have joined in on.  The South African effort for the Ashley Foundation was original, but again, it just solidified that we can function like a real club, which was GREAT, but not really an eClub project imho.

Larry and I once discussed a concept wherein kids from around the world submitted essays requesting a set amount for educational assistance.  The essays could be posted online, or in fact put up as a web page or blog.  We could work with clubs around the world to find the kids, and those clubs could administer the $$ so we'd have a Rotarian on the ground and involved.

The idea involved some other great aspects, like using make-up money from those regions to support the educational gift in that region so visitors felt as though their donations to our club were not just disappearing into cyberspace but were visibly returning to withing a thousand miles of where they reside.

What do you think of this?

Any other ideas?  Let's get something going to ride into our COL vote!!

Might be fun to see if we could develop an online project, or maybe a video project, aimed at kids in Africa who would like to know more about the US.

Or even better, the other way around! I think as an eClub, we should volunteers some kinds of electronic solution. But first we have to get our own house in order.

One of our eClub members, Dr. Vimal Hemani from India, has been accomplishing a peace eProjet for young people (an international peace essay contest) and has done this for the last three years. Someone of you who are talking about creating an eProject for young people should first explore what already is happening locally for our eClub members like Vimal. He is our service chairman for next year.

Wow.

Both great ideas.

I love the idea of providing a camera or something to get a monthly or weekly video update of progress on someone we are supporting.

I also like the idea of supporting Vimal on something that is already underway!  I'd love to hear more about that.
