Our message or Motto? for RI PR and ours!
Posted: 2 months ago
Should the club have a motto? or catch phrase for our PR? Recently in a one on one with Larry Levinson and his wife and daughter who drove through aVegas and stayed with me for a few hours, we talked about doing a run for PolioPlus in the Rotary year 2011-2012. Similar to Relay For Life (American Cancer Society) have all of our memebers organize a local race/walk, whether on foot or car or bike or motorbike or motorcycle or all of the above? Can take place during the same day, week or month? or successive days? Keeping in mind that all of our different geographic areas may have weather/temperature constraints?
Anyway, We also discussed doing a poster promoting this "race" which we can sell give away whatever. So we need ideas. I will be soon copying a piece of artwork done for the La Verne, CA Rotary Club just for a start off point. Have to buy a flash drive so I cn have professionally scanned for sending out.
Also I thought of the following "catch phrase" Run, So They Can Walk! or "Race, so they can Walk!" So what is yours? then maybe the Bd or club members can vote for their favorite?
Anyone interested?

Hi Maureen ...
We have actually had a motto since our chartering in 2004 .. it is "Service without borders."
Thanks for being active in our club. It makes a big difference to all of us ... and to you !!!! I like the 'catch phrase' "Run So They Can Walk.
(Actually my eClub join date is 1 April 2004) ;-]
In Rotary friendship and service,

OOOPS didn't mean to step on toes or remotely suggest that we replace "Service Without Borders" I was thinking of a motto/catch phrase for our run/walk/race PolioPlus fundraiser project for 2011/12. I will try to think also of a way to promote our "Service Without Borders" THANKS FOR THE INPUT

Hey, Maureen ... Gosh, no toes stepped on ... I just misunderstood your question "Should the club have a motto?". Larry and I had previously brainstormed the run/walk for PoloPlus idea and agreed it could be a game changer in worldwide eClub and Rotary awareness.
As a thought, mid-spring/mid-fall ... depending on hemisphere ... might be a good time for moderate temperatures throughout. We could probably get a quick answer from our far-flung Rotarians.
Another potential BIG plus for this concept is the virtual "gathering" of all our members focused on one service project. 'Twould be a first.
Enjoyed the exchange. If you don't mind, I would be interested in following the planning as this goes forward.

Maureen and Mel:
I watched once a race where everyone won in Special Olympics (my son was one of the competitors).
A motto for Polio Plus might be: "Join Hands. Cross the Finish Line Together. We All Win," or "Join Hands to Cross the Finish Line Together" or "Give and Join Hands. We All Win!" or "Race to All Win!"

Would now or soon be appropriate to send out a blast email announcing the proposed race/run/walk in all of our cities? and request suggestions for theme/catchphrase. Then once we receive by a deadline all the suggestions we can put up for a general vote.?
