Albuquerque Social event in September
Posted: 1 year ago
Well, it's official. . . our eClub is having it's first-ever social event in Albuqurque, New Mexico (USA) on Saturday, Sept 18th. Anyone who wants to fly or drive is is very welcome to join us!
At present, it looks like attendees include: Frances de Nuit, Carol and Tom Anderson, Kim Covill, Larry and Beth Levenson, Judy and Mel Taunt, and Brewer Newton. Sorry, I'm only mentioning club members -- spouses, partners, significant others are all welcome, too! (Woody, are you available that weekend? Martin, wanna meet some new friends? Joe, how 'bout tasting some real New Mexico food? John, come across reservation borders and join us? Bill, itchin' for a 4-hour drive?)
Plans are loose at the moment, that's why I started this forum discussion. I'm sure we'll be using Skype at some point(s) to add people from around the world to our fun. Let do some plotting and planning here in the forums.
Your turn!

We are really looking forward to having so many E-Club members in Albuquerque. If any one coming wants infor about what is available in the area for sightseeing etc, contact us and we will help you plan.

We plan to arrive later Friday afternoon and spend two nights. "We" includes Beth, Liz (our daughter), and me. Liz is graduating Norther AZ Univ in the spring on international business and wants to connect with Kim about her project in Nicaragua. She is also a past Youth Exchange student to Slovakia and loves hanging out with Rotarians.
The only place I know in Albuquerque is the zoo, which is incredible. We spent a wonderful long morning there a few years ago with our kids. We're open to anything for entertainment and I hope we get a lot of different opportunties to socialize with each other in various venues throughout the weekend.
I think it would be fun to schedule a Skype call or two in the course of the weekend to include some of our international friends in our getting-to-know-each-other.

Got the details, haven't figured out SKYPE yet, but have new computer that should do anything that the internet connection I have allows. Many of the electrons are on foot as they wend their way down the wire, some are on beautiful mustangs horses which are wild here and eventually my messages get through.
I could bring some blue corn meal for mush and also bring the cedar ash used in preparing it. Someday I will try making blue polenta with it. Should be great in the fall with a mutton roast.
For the party, we could tell Rotary stories with the Rotary 3 waytest from my Friends in District 5050.
1. Can we find someone who will believe it?
2. Can we get away with it?
3. Do we have to lie about the amount of beer consumed?

Wow -- Blue corn polenta!!!

Last time I posted a photo on the internet for my face book my son took it down and substituted a photo of an old truck. I tried again but cut off half my head. So far son has left photo alone. He is 4th generation Rotarian. I will try to get a good photo, had one taken today above a magnificent box canyon that makes me look as insignificant as most of the landscape here makes me feel.

I'd better try making Polenta with it first. it takes about an hour and a half and if any good will volunteer a making for the party.

Just returned from nieces' wedding abroad, in CT at the moment and will be on and off over the next 5 - 6 months except for another few weeks abroad. The one place I won't be, however is Santa Fe except for a few days later this month. I expect to be settled down by spring. For just a bit I was looking forward to the meet-up, but my house sold in 10 days and I have decades of stuff to deal with. Sorry I can't make it, skype included. Another time. Woody
