President's Message to the Membership September 2010
“No one cares how much you know until they know how much you care.”
Where We Are Now:Since we are officially a full fledge Rotary Club, our constitution had to be revised, created and approved by the Board and the membership, and the new By-Laws had to be approved by the Board and out to you for approval (a needed first step). It is time to challenge each member to get involved with the work of our Rotary Club. Our goals and objectives are created by our members on committees.
Where Each Member Should Start: Questions to Ask Yourself: What is your passion? Where do your talents fit to help take our club to the next level? With all the committees, we need your help. Each and every member is needed. Take a look at the list of committees needing members, and make choices that fit your talents and interests. Please contact the Chairman of the Committee you wish to serve.
What Your Leadership Believes: You, the members, make the difference. Therefore, volunteer, serve, learn, have fellowship and join the fun!
What Is Planned and Needed for 2010-2011:
People: It is critical that we are viewed and work to fulfill our goal of becoming ‘the premier eClub globally’. To do this, our major resource are our members (Steve Canter, Arizona, US, Membership Chairman, sbc.rotary@me.net), therefore we need reinforcement for our present members, recruitment for new talent, and mentoring for those who choose to serve. Also for Rotary and our eClub to grow, we need New Generations to bring in energy and ideas through youth (Martin Fox, Utah, US, fox@leadglobally.org): i.e., Interact, Youth Exchange, Rotaract, etc. Also in serving people, we need Fellowship on the local scene and worldwide (Bob Hand, Brazil, fbobhand@hotmail.com).
Projects: Our eClub is local and global, therefore our service projects (Dr. Vimal Hemani, India, dehemani@hotmail.com) are local and global, plus varied: something related to Rotary: the Four Way Test, educational projects, a health project in India, the Grub Fest on the West coast for families of those who serve in the military, and service in local communities where our members volunteer. To grow, we need to know how many hours are given to all these (send to the project chairman and secretary@recswusa.org). Also we must raise funds to do all these projects and make our contributions to RI’s universal projects (Raul Herrera, Mexico, herrearau@hotmail.com): Polio Plus, Grants, Permanent Fund, Scholarships, RI Foundation, etc.; plus help our District 5510 to grow and serve.
Public Relations: We have created a Public Relations Committee (Maureen McKinley, Nevada, US, ucladchchady@aol.com) which is working on a new eClub brochure and other ways to get out how we serve. One of the most visible symbols of who we are and what we do is our Weekly Meeting/Program website (Internet/Communications Chairman Stephen Shearin, New York, US, sshearin@gmail.com).
Leadership and Administration: President (Joe Kagle, Texas, US: joe_kagle@hotmail.com); Treasurer (Karen Naranjo, Arizona, treasurer@recswusa.org); President-Elect (Carol Anderson, New Mexico, US, secretary@recswusa.org; filling in for Secretary until….); Past President (Larry Levenson, Arizona, US, larry@recswusa.org); Executive Secretary (Mel Taunt, Arizona, US, mtaunt@frontiernet.net); Senior Advisor (Judy Taunt, Arizona, US, jtaunt@frontiernet.net). Your Board of Directors’ mission, at any time, is: “To plan for the future.”
Basic Message to the Membership: ‘Goals and objectives are only as successful as the quality of those who give a helping hand’. Therefore, all volunteers who are interested in joining other Rotarians in service on a committee should contact the Chairman of that committee. It is vital to the life of our eClub that as much as YOU can give by volunteering to serve; we all, inside and outside our eClub, are made better.
Joe Kagle, President, Rotary eClub of the Southwest, USA, 2010-11
