I decided to start this thread, hoping new members (and some not-so-new members) will join in, introduce themselves, ask questions, etc.

If any of our new members have a question. . . I would be happy to try to answer it or steer you to the person who has the answer!

Great idea Larry!! I have been apart of the RECSWUSA for a few months now and other than attending meetings I have not done much (granted I am still a college student). What can I do to become more involved on the site besides attending the weekly meetings? I just want to do as much as I can :)

Greeting from Nakatsu city in Japan! My name is Hirotake Yamato.I am 55 years old.Classification of occupation is seller of medicine.I live in Oita prefecture in Kyushu. Our area is far from the place of the disaster by the Tunami.I received request from the  governor Kinosita of D2720 after the earthquake  and I sent emergency aid goods to the victims in the disaster with the interested rotarians in Nakatsu city. The powdered milks, the toilet papers, the tissues, the underwears for the woman, the blankets, the confectionery, the paper diaper for the old person and so on.

It was very difficult for the dry battery and the toilet paper to get.

I accepted many offer of the help from Rotarians a lot of all over the world in Facebook.

However, I refused the offers because I could not get permission of our President.

Regrettably, he didn't know his role, knowledge about the international support.

I thought that Rotarians could work more well when being suffered I we found the best way to support the victims of the disaster.

Japan did national isolation before.

At that time, there was a international place in Nagasaki.

It was called "Dejima " and Dutch continued trade with Japanese.

I think that RECSWUSA is "Dejima" in Japan.

I wish I could learn many international manners in the world from members.

Please keep in touch!!

HI Natane

I just wrote a long message to you,..but seems did not go through..so I retype it!(I say this in case it appears somewhere else ! )

Well  ,Natane, thanks for your concern(how to help)

you are a college student, that keeps you busy,..already something important!

next you attend all weekly meetings..great!!If all of us would do so, we would reach the 100% that our President Joe considers quite rightly as normal for a virtual club..

Next what? there are forums, existing, old or recently launched, like this one by Larry...go for it..you have surely plenty of pushing ideas..we wait for it..let's push us with great positively disturbing new ideas..

next? why not create new forums??...want an idea to start the process??Why not create a forum with new generation members??If I do not miss someone(Bio's are not always uptodate...)there is already you,Katelyn,Hushley,..who else?...why not invite Liz Levenson to join?she has been President of Interact..Sandy ,Alan and me met her in Phoenix for lunch last sunday....I am sure you know her...want to help her to join us?I think she waits for us to invite her...we met also in NOLA Jenny,29,daughter of a Durango(Col)rotarian,we had dinner(Thanks for the bill,Gov Alan!) with her..she is interested by our e club..do you want, Natane,to contact her and  lead the follow up convincing action?tell me, I'll give you her mail..

next?? why not start an action with your young collegues ,a one to one program..each of you set a personal target to bring one or two friends of university or sport club etc..to our club(see comments of President Joe about ageing and future of RI, in this week program)...you would be terribly helpfull to our beloved recswusa

Next???...YOU....YOUR ideas..I am sure you have plenty of them, much more creative, different, positively disturbing,etc...go for it..go..take intiative..we will help you

good luck

Gerry,

Great, I will get on that immediately upon my return from Michigan. I think the idea of a new generations club would be beneficial four our eclub. With Katelyn and I, we could invite one or two of our friends each month to become a rotarian and in turn those friends will invite more. Young people like Katelyn and myself have young, fresh ideas that can be intermixed with the wonderful ideas of long time rotarians. I will begin the forum when I return from vacation next week and I look forward to working with you and Katelyn.

Take care,

Natane

In response to Natane's original comment, let me echo Gerard's response. Don't sit back because you may still be in college.  As R.I. did not see it worthwhile to support the initial efforts at an eRotaract club, we're glad to have you join us directly.  Our eClub needs input from our younger generations. Sorting out how to organize the forum discussions and how to educate and encourage our members to use them is a worthwhile task and goal.

We know our website needs to become mobile device friendly, and this may be an area younger members may be well suited to provide leadership.  My bottom line is don't feel because you're a new and younger member that you need to follow someone's lead.  Step forward and jump in!

It would be wonderful to get our young people involved in our forums.  A "New Generations" forum seems very appropriate, and as Natane says: "mix of new innovative ideas from the young, and old ideas from the seasoned rotarians."  I am looking forward to many discussions on several topics.
