It Warms My Heart

It Warms My Heart

I originally just wanted to say how happy it makes me to see activity in the forums, but when I made the thread title I realized it could be a fun place for all people on the site to share soemthing that makes them happy.

As an example:

It warms my heart to see my son take out the trash without being asked.

It warms my heart to see my neighbor helping our other neighbor who is on crutches.

It warms my heart to see the success of XYZ Rotary project.

So, in the hopes that I'm not the ONLY person to post here, it warms my heart to see so much forum usage.

Who's next?

Trying to get without first giving is as fruitless as trying to reap without having first sown.

It does not do to leap a 20 ft chasm in two ten foot jumps.

It warms my heart to see a ladybird dry its wings after a dive in the pool and take flight....

It warms my heart to see my 4 children get along extremely well with each other.

BUT it breaks my heart to see the Somalian people starving...

It warms my heart to know that there are so many Rotarians around the world helping other people.

It warms my heart to know that I will be a greatgrandfather next year.

BUT, It breaks my heart to see so much poverty in the world.

It breaks my heart to see many children left without their fathers and wives left without their husbands every time someone is killed at war.

We went to the Family Reunion in the mountains outside of my birthplace, Pittsburgh, Pa. on August 6th. With us was our son Christopher and granddaughter Erin (ages 39 and 12). It warmed my heart to see my sister and brother, share hugs, kisses and tall tales of the past. It warms my heart to see the young people taking over the traditions of the family.

Over 50 people attended, friends and relatives. Being part Italian and part French (somewhere way back, and a little German) we did embrace a lot. We call our grandson, Matthew (who stayed home in Houston), the 'drama queen' (he is 8) but all of us in the family, at the reunion, were "drama queens" (we all live to the full and it shows). We drank Yuengling Traditional Lager (Yuengling is the oldest, continuous brewery in American, founded in 1829 in Pittsburgh) and ate what came off the grill and what all the family brought.

Those of us from Pittsburgh told of the current making of the new Batman movie that was filmed just down the street where we had stayed in Pittsburgh (we went up and watched some of the filming, viewing the Bat Mobile and the Bat Motorcycle as extra treats). On the day in the mountains, Pittsburgh opened Heinz's Field (a football stadium renamed for the day to Gotham Stadium for a Batman event-where the film crew covered the field in snow, and 60,000 people, from all over the world, came as extras in the stands). This year, there are seven full-length Hollywood films being shot in Pittsburgh (because of its traditional and modern architecture, ethnic sections of the city that had contained all the immigrants from the 19th and early 20th century, and its wooing the film industry). It warms my heart to see a city grow to its full potential and change its face without losing its tradition (eleven bridges have been taken away in the downtown area alone and a new public Point Park built). Last year, Pittsburgh was voted 'the most livable city in American' in a survey of Forbes Magazine. Now, that wams my heart. Oh, by the way, we took the family up on one of the two still operating In-Clines that climb Mount Washington so that citizens can overlook the city. That was a treat that brought back warm visions of my childhood.

Members of the Rotary e-Cub warm my heart with all the simple acts of kidness they perform.

It warms my heart to be surrounded by family.

It warms my heart when I reach out to help others.

My youngest Granddaaughter Linnea starts Kindergarten tomorrow. I told her she was growing up, way to fast, and I was going to put a brick on her head to stop the growing. She laughed and told me it would fall off, and that we would still be able to play no matter how big she got, even when she was as big as her Mommy.

It warms my heart when Linnea gives her hugs and says I love you all the way to the stars and back

My son turns four in September. For a woman who had received a verdict that I would not have any children, he is a living miracle every time I lok at him.

It warms my heart when he decides to help me out in the kitchen... (don't mind the mess and the disaster that usually accompanies this)

Elizabeth, you comment warmed my heart. My daughter was told she could never have children, and we too have a special Angel, who is 5 and started Kindergarten last week.
