Prescott (AZ) Get-together: January 20-22, 2012

Hey all -

I will be driving the short 9 hour drive to me there and I can't wait!!!

So what do I need to bring? A white elephant gift and Mormon beer? Yes, Utah is one of the best brewing states in the Union. I don't drink but I thought it might be fun!  ANYTHING ELSE???

OK, people are starting to ask about what to bring, so here are my suggestions:

Clothing: Unless there's snow or rain, which I obviously can't predict yet (I'll post a forecast when we get closer to the date), plan on daytime highs (at 3 p.m.) in the low 50s and nighttime lows (at 4 a.m.) in the upper 20s. Bring layers for daytime and a warm jacket and gloves for nighttime. Since our temperature differential is 30 degrees or more, you'll peel layers in the daytime as it gets warmer and add them back on at night when you're outside. Pants rather than skirts are recommended, even for the guys, as well as comfortable walking shoes or sneakers for visiting museums or outside attractions.

Dress is VERY casual. Even at the Palace Restaurant, you'll see people dressed nicely, but most will be wearing nice jeans or casual slacks. In Prescott even the lawyers wear jeans, unless they're in court.

White Elephant: Discussed in an earlier post, but I'll reiterate: This is a silly game, designed to have fun with rather than collecting great stuff. We will do the white elephant on Saturday night.

If you want to bring food or beverage to share at the Saturday night gathering at Levenson's, all offerings are appreciated but not necessary for admission to the party. We will provide turkey, ham and some side dishes, maybe a dessert or two. Bring whatever you like: salads, appetizers, side dishes or desserts. Of particular interest would be wine, beer or your favorite alcoholic beverage. We will provide non-alcoholic beverages for the non-drinkers in the crowd.

Other than above, the only thing to bring is your sunny smile and the eClub spirit of fun. I can't wait to see all of you.

What fun tonight was! I met so many new friends - I instantly bonded with Kathy who was originally from Johnstown, PA and Dora, who let me call her 'Dora, the Explorer!'

I can't believe Francois flew clear from France! She had her picture taken with real cowboys! Jim from LA is super awesome! Doreen and her husband are great and are super proud of their sweet daughter serving in Afganistan! Ilene (I hope I spelled that right!) and her husband were great and got that darn cell phone camera figured it! It was good to meet John who I was very impressed with because he served his country and retired from the military! These are all great Rotarians and wonderful people!

A big thank you to Beth and Larry for helping me  get to right place and having such a good time!

What an incredible weekend! Hard to believe it's over. Extra special thanks go out to the Levenson's for their hospitality, and everyone else, too, who made the weekend extraordinary. On the drive back to LA, Françiose was kind enough to write while I spoke of the experience (it's in the SAA section of this week's meeting). Words seem insufficient to describe the warmth and fellowship of this truly amazing group. June can't come soon enough to meet again in Scottsdale for the District Conference.

It sounds like everybody had a great time at the party.  I am sorry I missed it!  Glad to know that Françoise is back in France safe and sound.
