A new challenge is before us: the new Rotary year 2018/19. What will we do? And how are we going to do it?

First of all, and more than ever, we must be that: Rotarians. People who give of themselves, before thinking about themselves.

Second.- Think, plan and do, always taking our quadruple test

Third.- To be more friends and companions than ever to unite in the causes that alleviate pain, misery, and lack of compassion among men.

I want to share with you a story that I extracted from the Bible to illus0trate a value to share:

"There were at the entrance of the gate four leprous men, who said to each other: Why are we here until we die? So they arose at nightfall, to go to the camp of the Syrians; and arriving at the entrance to the camp of the Syrians, there was no one there.

When the lepers came to the entrance of the camp, they went into a tent and ate and drank, and took from it silver and gold and clothing, and went and hid it; and they went back, they went into another tent, and from there they also took, and went and hid it. Then they said to each other: We are not doing well. Today is a day of good news, and we are silent; and if we wait until dawn, our evil will reach us. Come now, let's go in and give the new one in the king's house. "

2 Kings 7: 3, 5, 8-9 RVR1960,5,8-9.rvr1960

Ben-hadad, king of Syria had besieged the city of Samaria, there was hunger, despair, epidemic, thirst and death in front of them. 4 lepers, people that nobody wanted in the society of that time, had been left out of the city. They were not in the interests of the insiders, nor of the outsiders. They went out to look for the Syrians and found that Jehovah had made them flee. The lepers entered the camp, ate until they were satisfied, but one of them told the others: we are not doing well. Today is a day of good news, let's go to the city and tell others. The site is over. Not by the strategy of a great general, nor by the defensive capacity of a great city, the site ended when men of good will, following their highest spiritual values, decided to act in favor of others.

Today is a day of good news, a group of people, the Rotarians, not always well valued in society, not always well understood in our circles of .influence, have decided that living for ourselves is not more valuable than living for others. It is time for good news, it is time to stop giving of oneself instead of thinking of oneself.

The Rotary year is ours, but we belong to others.
